That was indeed troubling, as apparently the humans had no idea that such a large scale attack was coming as the forces were coming from the south, where they were, like locusts devouring everything in their path, not allowing any warning to go to the humans.

Slowly but cautiously they slaughtered their way towards Stronghold. As the orcs were also marching that direction, they were actually attacking from behind, catching many of them completely by surprise.

They fought and ran for nearly the whole day, with Samsara stopping every once in a while to rest. While resting, he cast a mental spell so that they would be overlooked if an orc was nearby. When fully rested, he would cast his wind spell again to run with her, and this went on for another two hours, with Tauriel charging madly through the army of confused orcs.

Finally, they reached the edge of the forest and saw a farm in the distance and quickly headed for it. It looked like it had been ransacked and parts of the house next to the barn was literally still on fire and completely destroyed.

They found several human skeletons as well as the skeletons of two horses outside the house. It was clear that they were used as food and clothes for the orcs that went past that were ahead of them.

Tauriel barricaded themselves in the barn and she searched the area around the barn and house to check if there were any more orcs still around or following them.

Informing Tauriel that he was going to summon another Familiar, she frowned at first, then nodded hesitantly, then told him that she was going to secure the area and disappeared. Samsara wondered what was that all about. Was she jealous?

Chapter 19 - Failed Rescue

And he still needed to catch up with the Celestial Academy carriages and warn the city of Stronghold.

[Affirmative. You can summon as many Familiars as you have Levels. You currently have Jemima, Orchid, Aria, Arisa and Mindy]

"That… that’s a bug in the system!  The Nexus must not know that in the AD&D worlds, you can only summon 1 Familiar at a time. This is such a great bug, i must take advantage of it" he thought to himself, secretly happy.

He felt relieved. He was hesitant to even summon his another Familiar because he was worried that it would eliminate Mindy, or worse, make Jemima, Aria, Arisa and Orchid cease to exist, just in case he had limited slots for Familiars. Now he was relieved about summoning more Familiars.

That being said, he was not willing to summon Jemima, Orchid, Aria or Arisa.

He wanted to summon another Familiar that had serious battle experience, like Mindy, since Mindy was incapacitated for 48 hours.

"Nexus, I want to summon more help" he said.

Chapter 18 - Mindy

“I can summon familiars?” he thought to himself after the announcement of the Nexus.
